What！ Lao Pi is leaving? After a year of traveling across Taiwan from north to south, the “Happy Cartoon Train” of Taiwan High-Speed Rail is set to shed its cartoon exterior on September 9. Fans of cartoons and trains who still want to see the front of the train designed as Lao Pi should make the most of these last few days.

The high-speed rail’s “Happy Cartoon Train” began operations in July 2013, with both the interior and exterior of the carriages featuring colorful illustrations of Cartoon Network characters such as Finn (Finn the Human), Jake (Jake the Dog), Princess Bubblegum, and the Powerpuff Girls, among others. Their adorable appearances drew repeated exclamations of delight and quickly won the hearts of both cartoon fans and rail enthusiasts. On the 22nd, the high-speed rail announced that the “Happy Cartoon Train” would revert to its original appearance on September 9.

To allow passengers to take away happy memories, starting August 23, the high-speed rail will offer a limited number of “commemorative limited-edition postcards” aboard the cartoon train, placed next to the mailbox at the “Happiness Delivery Station” in the corridor of the 7th carriage. Passengers can pick them up as souvenirs or mail them to family and friends to share the joy.

Since its first voyage on July 22, 2013, the collaborative “Happy Cartoon Train” between the high-speed rail and Cartoon Network has operated over 1,400 train services, carrying more than 1.3 million passengers.
