The biggest concern for moon viewing during Mid-Autumn Festival is unpredictable weather. Overcast skies or drizzling rain can ruin the experience. This year, from September 6 to 8, China’s Spring Airlines will launch its second season of 100 “moon-viewing flights,” aiming to take passengers above the clouds to enjoy the beauty of the autumn moon.There are a total of 57 air moon-viewing flights offering the best positions for sky-high moon gazing.The moon-viewing flight from Taiwan, 9C8952, will fly from Taoyuan to Shanghai on September 8, and with good luck, passengers may even catch the moment the moon rises and emerges.

According to estimates by Spring Airlines’ operations control department, during this year’s three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, flights heading east to west after 8:00 PM are ideal for in-flight moon viewing. Examples include Kunming to Shanghai, Shanghai to Bangkok, Shijiazhuang to Chongqing, Shijiazhuang to Chengdu, and Singapore to Shanghai. Among these, flights traveling from east to west offer the best moon-viewing positions on the left side of the cabin (Row A), while those flying from west to east offer the best views on the right side (Row F). Spring Airlines reminds passengers that mobile phones must remain switched off throughout the flight. To take photos of the moon, only cameras or tablets may be used.
