Hsinchu Mayor Lin Chih-chien said today (3rd) that most facilities at Haishan Fishing Port have entered the final stages of completion and are expected to be open to the public by the end of July. The main features include a sea-facing viewing platform and a scenic promenade, giving residents another great place to enjoy ocean views and watch the sunset.

Lin Chih-chien pointed out that Haishan Fishing Port is one of only two fishing ports in Hsinchu City. It not only offers breathtaking sea views and beautiful sunsets but also attracts couples and families with its romantic scenery. The surrounding area features oyster farms along the coast and intertidal zone ecosystems, and it serves as a base for local fishermen to set out to sea.

To enhance the overall facilities at Haishan Fishing Port, the city government has carried out repairs on the pier road, replacing old wooden planks with impact-resistant precast panels to make the platform safer and more solid. Practical yet aesthetically pleasing “boat mooring posts” have been installed for fishermen, while entrance features have been added and the entire road surface has been repaved.

Lin Chih-chien stated that Haishan Fishing Port is a key node along the 17-kilometer coastal scenic route. By connecting with the bike path and Xiangshan Wetland, the future coastal tourism resources of Hsinchu City will become even richer and more complete.
