A new "ChaoYue Original Flavor Charcoal Grill Steak" has opened near Neihu MRT Station, specializing in original-flavor charcoal-grilled steaks. The selection of meat is top-notch, featuring PRIME or CHOICE grade beef. Even the well-known program "Fei Fan Da Tan Suo" (Fantastic Food Hunter) has reported on this spot for its fresh and distinctive charcoal-grilled steaks. No wonder it’s packed to the brim at lunchtime, with customers even having to line up.

It was close to lunchtime when we arrived, and the restaurant was already full. Surprisingly, even outside the entrance, there were people waiting to be seated—amazing!! The weather was hot, and sitting by the busy road made it even hotter, but luckily the restaurant was thoughtful enough to provide cooling tea for thirsty customers waiting in line.

This storefront happens to be very close to the MRT station, making it a prime location—but also a hotspot for traffic tickets!! Haha.

The interior decor is quite simple, with red walls and black chairs as the main design elements. The kitchen in the back is separated by glass, giving it a semi-open feel where you can watch the chefs grilling the steaks. So crowded!! Everyone had the same goal in mind—to enjoy delicious food.

The wall illustrations clearly show which part of the cow each steak comes from, which is pretty important when you’re eating steak and also learning something new. It’s said that ChaoYue Steak goes through both searing and charcoal-grilling processes, so the resulting steak carries a smoky aroma of charcoal—very exciting to try.

When you order a steak meal, adding just NT$69 upgrades it to a set meal that includes a drink, daily soup (pumpkin soup), buttery burst dinner rolls, and ice cream.

The savory and crispy fries are also addictive—crispy on the outside, tender inside, sprinkled with spices rather than plain salt. They’re truly irresistible, bite after bite.

Drinks: cranberry juice, cola

The restaurant went the extra mile by using the popular buttery burst dinner rolls from the group-buying scene as their side bread.

The freshly baked rolls smell amazing. The first bite really does burst with filling!!! This time I peeled it apart, and sure enough, it was filled with rich butter cream, oozing out like volcanic lava.

We chose the ChaoYue Wing Steak.

When the dish was served, we noticed the plate was hot—ah, attention to detail!!! But upon closer inspection, we thought this steak looked a bit unusual. After a while, we realized the issue was with the grill marks!! They were supposed to be diamond-shaped, but they looked more like squares!!!
Haha, it’s just an optical illusion, but it doesn’t take away from how delicious this ChaoYue Wing Steak is. You can tell the chef put in effort to trim off most of the sinew—the tenderness is just right, with a slight chewiness. Eating it in its original flavor is the best way to go; you can taste the natural sweetness of the meat without any sauce. Just a pinch of salt on the side makes it even better.

The juicy chicken thigh steak is also tender and flavorful, and it’s super affordable—night market prices but restaurant quality.

My friend ordered the Gourmet Steak, which is USDA Choice grade beef from the most tender part of the ribeye. It was also incredibly delicious.

The vanilla ice cream is also great.
