Following the lifting of the electronics ban on inbound flights operated by Etihad Airways, the U.S. government today announced that the bans on Emirates Airline and Turkish Airlines have also been removed. The previous restrictions that prohibited passengers from bringing laptops and other large electronic devices on direct flights to the U.S. have now been officially lifted.

Previously, the U.S. government issued an electronics ban on direct flights from 10 airports in the Middle East and North Africa to the United States, after receiving reports that the Islamic State (IS) was actively developing bombs that could be hidden inside electronic devices. Among them, Etihad Airways, Emirates Airline, and Turkish Airlines have all subsequently announced the official lifting of the ban. Emirates Airline stated that it will continue to cooperate with aviation-related agencies and local authorities to implement stricter security measures and standards in line with the latest guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for all flights bound for the United States. The airline also expressed its highest gratitude to the U.S. and local authorities for their support, as well as to all passengers for their understanding and patience during the period when the ban was in effect.
