The closer, the more spectacular – A breathtaking Christmas music and light show at Tokyo Tower

To me, Tokyo Tower is a very familiar sight because Japanese dramas used to feature it all the time—it’s a landmark of Tokyo. And you definitely have to come here at night; the illuminated Tokyo Tower is absolutely stunning. I must admit, when I looked up at it from below, I was truly moved by that magnificent sea of lights on the tower. It really felt like a fan pilgrimage.

After getting off at Hamamatsucho Station on the JR line, just walk for about ten minutes while looking toward the distant Tokyo Tower, and you’ll get there.

The closer you get, the more you’ll be awed by the grandeur of Tokyo Tower—just gorgeous !

Compared to other places, Tokyo Tower’s Christmas lighting is a bit more subtle and understated.

It’s just a small, cozy Christmas tree decorated along with surrounding lights.

Though simple, it still manages to feel warm and inviting.

Today’s itinerary roughly goes: Meiji Shrine → Omotesando → bills Pancakes → Ghibli Museum in Mitaka → Shiodome Illuminations (Marugame Seimen) → Tokyo Tower → Harajuku Apartment. After seeing the Tokyo Tower Christmas lights, I took the JR to Shinjuku and transferred to the Yamanote Line to the Harajuku Apartment. I haven’t actually been outside of Shinjuku these past few days in Tokyo—yeah, I’ve just been transferring here.

I thought about walking around after leaving the station, but it might have been a bit too late as most shops were almost closed.

I enjoyed some street performer acts in front of Shinjuku Station before finally heading back to the apartment to rest.
