It's not just Tainan anymore！Hualien’s colorful “pipe houses” let you sleep with cartoon characters

Recently, the Tainan City Tourism Bureau set up five pipe house camps on the playground of Ganglin Elementary School, which became a hit due to their unique design. Now Hualien has its own pipe houses too！A special homestay in Ji’an Township, Hualien County, has recently built three distinctive pipe houses, with cartoon patterns painted on their exterior walls, creating a unique and novel look that has gone viral online. The homestay owner, Yung-lin Weng, said, “The pipe houses are very popular—bookings for holidays in October and November are already fully booked.”

Yung-lin Weng stated that the homestay he originally operated had a usable space of 300 ping (approximately 990 square meters). His wife, An-an Wu, came up with the idea of using pipes to build rooms, so they purchased the largest culverts used in underground engineering and transformed them into rooms. A part-time worker who knows how to paint helped with the graffiti. After posting photos online, they received an overwhelming number of inquiries daily, with holiday bookings full through November. Yung-lin Weng said, “Next, we also plan to design pyramid-concept styled rooms to diversify the types of accommodations at the homestay.”
