Spotting the potential of the coffee market, many popular K-pop stars have also ventured into opening cafes, turning them into pilgrimage spots for fans visiting Korea. 1. G-Dragon (GD) – Monsant de Aewol Cafe
“Monsant de Aewol Cafe” (航懒窜) boasts the most stunning Aewol seaside views in Jeju Island and was opened by international superstar G-Dragon (GD) of BIGBANG. The cafe building is decorated with stones from Jeju Island and features large floor-to-ceiling windows. When the sunset glow and endless sea views are reflected on the glass, the natural scenery of Jeju is brought naturally from the outside in, creating a breathtakingly beautiful view that made it an instant hit upon opening.

Monsant de Aewol follows a natural industrial style, with decor and artworks personally selected and designed by GD, allowing visitors to experience his fashion and lifestyle taste firsthand. However, the prices aren’t inflated due to the global superstar’s presence – coffee averages between 5,000 and 6,000 KRW (approximately NT$140 to NT$170), and there are also desserts and pizza options available.

2. Seungri – AND.here CAFE
Seungri, the most business-savvy member of BIGBANG, not only runs the ramen brand “Aori” but also opened a cafe called “AND.here CAFE” near Hyehwa Station in Seoul. The cafe features a minimalist urban style, using gardens and greenery to create an atmosphere of an urban jungle hidden within the city. It has also been featured in several BIGBANG-related TV programs.

The highlight of AND.here CAFE is that you can enjoy performances by theater troupes at an affordable price. The signature dessert is the “marshmallow pancake,” which pairs perfectly with coffee – spending an afternoon chatting or relaxing here is a real treat.

3. Yesung (Super Junior) – Mouse Rabbit
Mouse Rabbit, opened by Yesung—one of the lead vocalists of Super Junior—is located near Konkuk University Station in Seoul. The café is decorated extensively with wooden materials and features an overall white color scheme, creating a rustic vibe. The interior is adorned with many potted plants and greenery, complemented by warm, yellow lighting to offer a cozy atmosphere.

Mouse Rabbit primarily serves coffee and desserts. For those craving savory options, Mouse Rabbit Underground is a good alternative, offering not only coffee but also beer, fried chicken, and more.

4. Kim Jaejoong – J-Holic
J-Holic, the café opened by Kim Jaejoong of JYJ, moved from Myeongdong to Samseong-dong near Gangnam in December 2016. The café’s most popular dessert is a colorful rainbow cake. Even its takeout cups are super cute, guaranteed to max out your phone’s storage just by taking photos of them. The shop also sells a variety of adorable merchandise, making it a must-visit spot for fans.

5. Lee Jong-suk – Cafe 89Mansion
When talking about the hottest cafés in Korea in 2017, Cafe 89Mansion is definitely on the list. Opened by Korean actor and heartthrob Lee Jong-suk to fulfill his dream of running a café, it was named after his birth year—1989—and quickly became a new pilgrimage destination for fans shortly after its official opening in September.

Located on the tree-lined boulevard at Exit 8 of Sinsa Station, Cafe 89Mansion is filled with thoughtful touches from Lee Jong-suk. For example, he personally wrote on one wall: “Though the flowers may wither, may this heart not. Dancing with the falling petals, the captivating heart piles up at noon.” This wall has become a must-photo spot for fans. Inside the café, Lee Jong-suk also planted the flowers gifted by fans, blending their love with his own dreams to create a warm and inviting space.
