Spring in Queensland is purple ! Brisbane in spring offers breathtakingly romantic scenery, and when spring arrives, Queensland is filled with an intoxicating purple charm. Whether in parks, by the river, on university campuses, or along city streets, you can see the state flower of Queensland — the Jacaranda — swaying in the breeze.

The Jacaranda is also known as the Brazilian Jacaranda tree. It originates from tropical and subtropical regions and blooms from spring to early summer, with a flowering period of about two months. When in full bloom, the entire tree transforms into a massive bundle of blue-purple flowers, swaying gently in the breeze, with delicate petals falling and emitting a faint fragrance — a beauty that takes your breath away.

New Farm Park is the best place to admire the Jacaranda. In addition to preserving some historic buildings, this area also features trendy fashion, furniture, and renowned restaurants. Located by the Brisbane River, New Farm Park can be easily reached by public ferry. The park is lush and shaded, and aside from the dazzling Jacarandas, it also has a rose garden and various other plants. Locals love to come here for picnics in spring when flowers are in full bloom.

There are also many beautiful Jacarandas to enjoy at the University of Queensland. The vibrant flowers against the backdrop of its colonnaded, European-style architecture add an elegant touch, while the circles of purple fallen petals on the green lawns lend an intellectual beauty to the scene.

In addition, Queensland’s most famous Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers will be held from September 19 to 28. Toowoomba, located about a 100-minute drive from Brisbane, is known as the “Garden City.” Every early spring in September, when flowers are in full bloom, a flower expo is held to celebrate the arrival of spring.
