New Port of Light launches regular cruises – get up close with warships and cruise liners in Kaohsiung Harbor

Since its launch in May this year, the New Port of Light in Kaohsiung has become hugely popular for offering stunning seaside views, such as the graceful architectural lines of the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center and the magnificent 85 Sky Tower. Starting in September, the port began operating two regular cruises on national holidays. In collaboration with well-known department stores and hotels, these approximately one-hour voyages feature guided tours that showcase the charm of this southern Taiwanese harbor.

Huang Chao-hsing, general manager of Kaohsiung Harbor Ferry Co., said that from now until the end of December, the “New Port of Light Holiday Harbor Tour” cruises, held regularly at 2 PM and 3:30 PM on national holidays, offer a unique opportunity to venture deep into the heart of Kaohsiung Harbor. Passengers can witness the impressive presence of naval cruisers, the Yangming Marine Exploration Museum, and more. Along the way, they may also encounter cruise ships, warships, cargo vessels, and container ships. During the one-hour voyage from the New Port of Light to Qijin Fishing Harbor, the boat does not stop at any docks, and an onboard guide provides commentary to help visitors learn about the stories behind Kaohsiung Harbor.

Huang Chao-hsing noted that tickets for the “New Port of Light Holiday Harbor Tour” are NT$300 for adults and NT$150 for eligible discounted passengers.
