China Eastern Airlines unveils new logo after 26 years — a red-and-blue swallow in flight

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) released its new VIS (Visual Identity System) on the 9th. The new logo retains the core element of the original — the "swallow" — but changes the original white swallow to one composed of red and blue, ingeniously integrating the initials CE (China Eastern) with the swallow. This marks the first change to the airline's logo in 26 years.
CEA will begin applying the new logo to its first 777-300ER aircraft introduced in late September. Starting in November, the first 777-300ER aircraft will officially operate flights to Los Angeles and New York. Between 2015 and 2016, 10 more Boeing 777 aircraft will join the CEA fleet, and all of the airline’s North American routes will be operated by the Boeing 777. By 2018, after all 20 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft are delivered, CEA will become the largest operator of this aircraft model in China.
