The Hehuanshan Mountain is snowing!\nStarting from the early hours (5th) today, ice pellets began to fall at Wuling. At 11:07 AM, the Taroko National Park Administration Office posted photos on its Facebook page, indicating that snow had started falling on Hehuanshan. From the forests to the roads, everything has turned into a dreamlike silver-white world. The Puli Maintenance Section of the Second District Maintenance Engineering Office under the Directorate General of Highways also reminded mountain-goers that due to icy road conditions, only vehicles equipped with tire chains are allowed to pass from now on.

The first cold air mass of winter arrived in Taiwan starting from the 5th. Affected by the drop in temperature, ice pellets began to fall at Hehuanshan around 3:00 AM, and by the daytime, the region saw its first snowfall of the winter season, transforming the mountain area into a magical silver-white landscape. Meanwhile, temperatures have dropped below zero. The Puli Maintenance Section of the Second District Maintenance Engineering Office under the Directorate General of Highways also issued a notice stating that due to icy conditions on Highway 14A between the 31K (Wuling) and 41K (Dayuling) sections, only vehicles equipped with tire chains are allowed to pass from now on.

Currently, since ice pellets, rain, and snow have been falling since the early hours, there is about 1 cm of snow accumulation on the roads. This has attracted many netizens to organize group trips up the mountain to see the snow. According to an earlier forecast by the Central Weather Bureau, another cold air mass will arrive on Friday, which may bring more snow to Hehuanshan. Yushan Mountain also has a chance of snowfall. The public is reminded to pay attention to safety and keep warm when heading up the mountains for snow viewing, and to conduct thorough vehicle inspections in advance.
