Xinjiang Scallion Pancake

Recommended by a local friend from Kenting, this scallion pancake stall located right by the main road is said to be both delicious and generous in portion, making it very popular among locals. Following a friend’s lead, I specially came here to give it a try. Despite the extremely hot weather, the warm hospitality of the two auntie owners remained completely unaffected.

The scallion pancakes here are quite large. They use more oil when frying, resulting in a particularly crispy texture. Once fried to a golden crisp, they’re simply sprinkled with pepper, cut into pieces, and ready to go. Eating them while hot is truly wonderfully crispy and tasty！A little dab of their special chili sauce makes it even more delicious！

This Zhou Q Cold Noodles shop in Gangshan District was originally located inside the Gangshan Military Dependents’ Village market, and has been around for eighteen years. The classic dependents’ village flavor remains unchanged — even after relocating to its current new store, it still boasts many loyal long-time customers. Operating from early morning, many locals often buy several portions to take home for breakfast or lunch.

Their cold noodles mainly feature a special sesame paste, along with some shredded cucumber, representing a more traditional style of cold noodles. The sesame paste is rich and fragrant, clearly made with quality ingredients.

The store offers only a few items: cold noodles and a few types of soups. The spiciness level of the cold noodles ranges across five grades.

The simple soups offered on-site are all of decent quality. The pork ball soup, sprinkled with chopped celery, contains a few soft-boiled turnip pieces, and the pork balls have a pleasantly bouncy texture. A bowl of soup paired with a bowl of cold noodles is extremely satisfying.
