Thoughtful design！Singapore’s “HALAL” Muslim-only tableware recycling stations

Singapore is a country with a diverse range of ethnicities and faiths, and there are quite a few Malays who follow Islam and adhere to its teachings by not eating pork. As such, in addition to promoting the practice of “self-service tableware recycling” at local hawker centres, special recycling stations have been set up exclusively for Muslims as a sign of respect.

At the various hawker centres across the city — just look for recycling stations marked“HALAL”with this signage, and you’ll know they are designated for Malays (Muslims). Non-Muslims must keep their tableware separate from theirs. If you’re visiting the area, be sure not to mix them up.

In addition, although the entire building has a semi-open layout, the dining area on the second floor of the hawker centre is still divided into smoking and non-smoking zones. Those who wish to smoke can only dine in the designated smoking area near the atrium.
