The under-constructionBeijing New Airportmay currently be the world's largest airport, built to meet Beijing's growing air transport demand, with an estimated opening in 2019.
According to renowned travel website Travel + Leisure, Beijing New Airport will serve as the base for China Southern Airlines and China Eastern Airlines. The airport design team, Zaha Hadid Architecture, has planned numerous gardens and, to reduce passengers' time navigating terminals, has also efficiently organized the building's spatial layout.

The architectural studio's website states that the overall symmetry, fluidity, and interconnections of the airport terminals primarily reflect the harmony and balance of Chinese landscapes. In terms of color tones and materials, we also employ the visual language of traditional Chinese culture in our design expression.
Beijing New Airport will initially open with four runways, with two additional runways to be added later. Construction is currently ongoing, and the airport will also be connected to a rapid rail system to facilitate transfers between the city and the airport.
