Zhengxing Street in Tainan is famous across Taiwan for its great food and fun, and this July, it added a brand-new container market. With 13 containers, 14 stalls, and 13 brands, it features food, cultural and creative goods, clothing, and accessories. The market includes Taiwan’s smallest Eslite Bookstore and the National Palace Museum’s old-style candy shop, among other shops. It will be open on a limited-time basis until February 28 next year.

The Tainan BiYang Container Market Beyond Petite, newly opened on July 1 on Zhengxing Street, is located right across from Juanwei Homemade Ice Cream. Covering 240 ping (approx. 790 square meters), the market includes food, cultural and creative goods, clothing, and accessories, featuring four cultural and creative shops. These include the National Palace Museum’s “My Candy Store,” the popular local Tainan shop “Shi Art Selection,” as well as BiYang Selection and Taiwan’s smallest Eslite Bookstore, which spans just 4.4 ping.

For food, there’s Xiang Cha Pearl Milk Tea, Da Shui Gang Plum Juice, Yuanqi Cat Starfruit Juice, and Start Boulangerie French bakery. There’s also a selection of youth favorites such as Levi’s, Superdry, TOUGH Jeansmith, and WEAVISM Textileism, established by the third generation of Tainan Ming Textile. Maison Promax has collaborated with Japan’s ULTRA HEROES (Ultraman Alliance) to release branded bags, and nearby is the Monster Bar.

The mission of Tainan BiYang Container Market is to promote local Tainan specialties and showcase great Taiwanese products. The adorable container buildings keep visitors stopping to take photos, making Zhengxing Street an even better spot to explore and snap pictures. However, the container market is time-limited and is scheduled to operate until February 28, 2018—so if you want to check it out, don’t wait too long!
