Typhoon Fanapi Approaches – Forest Recreation Areas Such as Alishan and Aowanda to Close Starting September 20

As Typhoon Fanapi approaches, the Central Weather Bureau issued a land and sea typhoon warning at 8:30 PM on September 19. To prevent risks to mountain tourism safety due to the typhoon’s heavy rains, multiple recreational areas—including Alishan National Forest Recreation Area, Aowanda, and Taipingshan National Forest Recreation Area—will be closed. The Forestry Bureau urges visitors not to travel to these areas.

The following national forest recreation areas will be closed:

● Alishan National Forest Recreation Area will close from 5:00 PM on September 20.
● Chinan National Forest Recreation Area will close starting September 20.
● Fuyuan National Forest Recreation Area will close starting September 20.
● Lintianshan Forestry Culture Park will close starting September 20.
● Danongdafu Plain Forest Recreation Area will close starting September 20.
● Ruisui Ecology Hall will close starting September 20.
● Aowanda Forest Recreation Area will close starting September 20.
● Taipingshan National Forest Recreation Area will close on September 20–21, 2014, due to Typhoon Fanapi.
● Kenting National Forest Recreation Area will close starting September 20.
● Shuangliu National Forest Recreation Area will close starting September 20.
● Neidong National Forest Recreation Area will close on September 20 and 21.
● Manyueyuan National Forest Recreation Area will close on September 20 and 21.
● Dongyanshan National Forest Recreation Area will close on September 20 and 21.
● Guanwu National Forest Recreation Area will close on September 20 and 21.
● Wulai Timber Railway will close on September 20 and 21.
● Lalashan Nature Reserve will close on September 20 and 21.
● Neiwan Forestry Exhibition Hall will close on September 20 and 21.
● Daxueshan National Forest Recreation Area will close starting September 21.
● Baxianshan National Forest Recreation Area will close starting September 21.
● Wuling National Forest Recreation Area will close starting September 21.
● Four national forest recreation areas including Hehuanshan will close starting September 21.
● Zhiben National Forest Recreation Area will close starting September 21.
● Dawushan Ecology Education Hall will close on September 20–21.
