The annual Golden Week is the peak season for travel and vacation in China, and the travel choices of Chinese tourists have become one of the most closely watched topics in the global tourism industry. An international hotel booking website conducted a special survey on the popular overseas destinations searched by Chinese travelers for this holiday period. Chinese travelers most want to visit Taipei, followed by Seoul and Bangkok in second and third place, while Hong Kong and Singapore rank fourth and fifth respectively, with Asian cities taking all five top spots. Interestingly, Paris, ranked ninth, is the only non-Asian city on the list, showing that when planning long-haul trips, the romantic City of Light—Paris—is highly favored by Chinese travelers.

In terms of growth rate, compared to the same period last year, the top five destinations with the highest growth include two in Italy—Rome in first place and Florence in third, with growth rates of 116% and 98% respectively. Chiang Mai ranks second (104%), reflecting a rebound in tourism as Thailand’s political situation has gradually stabilized in the second half of the year. Osaka and Kyoto rank fourth (76%) and fifth (64%) respectively. Taipei ranks ninth globally in search popularity, with a strong performance of 36% growth.

According to the latest "Chinese Outbound Travel Survey Report" released by Hotels.com as part of its Chinese Traveler Trends, outbound leisure travel by Chinese tourists has seen significant growth. Among the most popular products or services tailored for Chinese travelers, 50% of respondents ranked "hotel staff who speak Chinese" in third place, demonstrating Taiwan's unique geographical and linguistic advantages in the Chinese tourism market. Additionally, looking at the most-searched Taipei hotels on the Hotels.com platform during this year’s Golden Week, affordable and conveniently located accommodations are the most favored by Chinese travelers.
