Tigerair Taiwan’s maiden flight lands in Singapore CEO Kuan Hsu praises delicious pumpkin vermicelli

Taiwan’s first domestic low-cost carrier, “Tigerair Taiwan,” officially took to the skies this morning (26th). Its inaugural flight, IT511, departed from Taoyuan Airport at 10:20 AM bound for Singapore and landed smoothly at Changi Airport at 3:00 PM, marking a new chapter in Taiwan’s civil aviation. Tigerair Taiwan CEO Kuan Hsu was also on the maiden flight, accompanying passengers to Singapore, where he praised the “pumpkin vermicelli” served on board as very tasty！
Tigerair Taiwan has introduced a brand-new Airbus A320 aircraft, configured with 180 seats. The fuselage features a “Taiwan” design that adds a striking visual touch. Spokesperson Lee Ming-yen stated that a total of 177 passengers were on the inaugural flight to Singapore, with an almost full load factor. On the return journey, 176 passengers also took advantage of the maiden flight to visit Taiwan from Singapore for the weekend, making it a great start for the airline.
Following the 26th inaugural flight, one daily flight between Taiwan and Singapore will be offered going forward, with additional routes to Bangkok and Chiang Mai set to launch by the end of the year. According to Tigerair Taiwan’s plans, Northeast Asian routes to Japan and South Korea are expected to be introduced in the first quarter of next year, ahead of the Lunar New Year.

At the 26th inaugural ceremony, Tigerair Taiwan specially invited lion dancers to perform at the opening, expressing hopes for greater success in the future. In his speech, Tigerair Taiwan CEO Kuan Hsu expressed gratitude to China Airlines, Taoyuan Airport, and all those who provided assistance, enabling the first domestic low-cost carrier to take off successfully. This is also the first new airline established in Taiwan’s civil aviation in 23 years.

Yin Cheng-peng, Chairman of Taoyuan Airport Corporation, who was also present at the inaugural ceremony, noted that Tigerair Taiwan exudes a strong Taiwanese flavor — from its aircraft livery and cabin crew to its in-flight meals. It even selected Gate A5, which features depictions of Taiwan’s night market food culture. Yin also expressed hope that the launch of Tigerair Taiwan would bring increased travel capacity to Taoyuan Airport and help it reach new heights in passenger traffic.
To celebrate the inaugural flight, Tigerair Taiwan set up photo boards at the boarding gates in both airports, featuring icons such as Taipei 101, Taiwan’s tallest building, and Singapore’s Merlion. Passengers could take instant photos with slogans and were given commemorative picture frames. Additionally, passengers on the inaugural flight also received face masks and commemorative keychains.
