So dreamy I want to get married right away！ Mandarin Oriental’s ultra-luxurious weddings – the secrets behind them

Golden Melody Award-winning singer Tao Zhe held his son’s first birthday party and wedding banquet, with 5 tables booked at Taipei Mandarin Oriental Hotel, known for its top-tier luxury. At a price of NT$38,800+10% per table, plus NT$300,000 for the venue rental fee — the only hotel in Taipei with an on-site wedding chapel — the estimated total cost is at least NT$2.7 million, making it a truly enviable ultra-luxurious wedding.

Taking the “Classic Radiant Wedding” package at NT$38,800+10% per table as an example, the 40-course menu includes appetizer platters, soups, lobster or abalone, seafood, main dishes, traditional Chinese desserts, and assorted snacks. Couples can select 18 dishes based on their preferences. For soups, they can choose one from three options: Oriental Lobster Quartet Soup, Braised Scallop and Crabmeat with Snow Fungus, or 12-hour slow-cooked Abalone with Dried Scallop and Cordyceps Flowers. As for the symbolic “Flower Moon Harmony,” unlike regular fried glutinous rice balls, Chef Li Shih-kuang uses whole bursting custard-filled glutinous rice balls, paired with sesame and crushed peanuts — vibrant in color and delicious in taste. Main courses can include premium lobster or abalone dishes, creating a single table spread worth over NT$40,000.Chef Li Shih-kuang, who has 23 years of experience in Chinese cuisine at Taipei Mandarin Oriental Hotel, said: “Taiwanese people tend to serve a large quantity of food at banquets, but often end up unable to finish the later dishes, leading to waste. A more refined approach allows every guest to enjoy the chef’s carefully prepared dishes.”

For the venue, the 290-ping banquet hall with a ceiling height of 7.3 meters can accommodate up to 78 tables. It features audio equipment used by world-renowned artists such as the Three Tenors, Celine Dion, and Sarah Brightman during their concerts. The main banquet hall has 35 computer-controlled lights — the highest number in any hotel of its size in Taiwan — which can be adjusted with pre-installed rigging points to create various lighting atmospheres.Located on the eighth floor, the Mandarin Gallery is “the only five-star hotel wedding chapel in Taipei.” With a majestic 21-meter-high dome and ornate European-style carved walls, it also features a thoughtfully designed bridal preparation room for the couple’s comfortable dressing and grooming. Newlyweds can also host their wedding reception in the European-style garden next to the Mandarin Gallery.

Taipei Mandarin Oriental Hotel will open its wedding venues to the public for the first time on September 27 and 28 (Saturday and Sunday). Couples who book 30 tables or more on either of these days will receive two nights’ stay in a 27-ping urban suite, including a lavish breakfast for two, an exclusive welcome gift in the room: featuring France’s premium Ruinart champagne, handcrafted chocolates by a world-renowned chocolatier, and delicate French canapés, as well as a classic Mandarin Oriental couples’ spa treatment, available for use during the honeymoon or wedding anniversary.
