Tables and chairs hanging from the ceiling? This "upside-down coffee shop" in Ho Chi Minh City is a must-visit and super fun

Vietnamese people are passionate about coffee, and in downtown Ho Chi Minh City, you can hardly walk a few steps without encountering a café, many of which have their own unique flair. In Phú Nhuận District, there’s a particularly special “Upside-Down Café” — the entire exterior structure is an upside-down wooden house by the roadside. Inside, the ceiling is hung with inverted tables, chairs, wooden cabinets, and even a piano, while the windows are also upside-down, making it hard to tell ceiling from floor.

This unique upside-down café is named “UP Coffee.” The Vietnamese owner is an interior designer who studied abroad. With his own creative vision, he personally designed both the interior and exterior of the café, custom-ordering furniture and decor items based on his imagination. The manager of UP Coffee told reporters that the interior decoration alone cost around 1 billion Vietnamese dong (approximately 1.4 million New Taiwan dollars).

When reporters visited UP Coffee in person, they found that the building, hidden behind roadside houses, is easily overlooked by travelers, so most of its customers are locals. Passing through the parking area in front, the “upside-down house” comes into view. On the first floor, the inverted European-style white wooden cabinets add a playful charm to the dimly lit interior. On the second floor, sunlight streams in through the upside-down windows, illuminating the coffee bar and seating area in a uniquely artistic way. The furnishings on the ceiling all hang upside-down — it’s not that they were placed there upside-down, but rather the entire space has been cleverly inverted. It really feels like you’re standing on the ceiling instead of the floor.
