The Songshan Line opens next month with a one-month free trial ride; direct service between Xindian and Tamsui will be discontinued

Taipei Metro’s Songshan Line is expected to open in November, completing the final piece of the metro network puzzle. A one-month free trial ride will be offered after its launch. In the future, it will only take 15 minutes to travel from Raohe Night Market to Ximending. However, passengers should note that after the official opening, the “Xindian–Tamsui” route will be discontinued, and other routes will also see minor adjustments.

According to the Metro Bureau’s plan, after the Songshan Line opens, it will connect with the current Xindian Line. However, it will not pass through the most crowded stations, Taipei Main Station and National Taiwan University Hospital Station. Therefore, passengers heading to Taipei Main Station or National Taiwan University Hospital who are traveling from Songshan to Xindian will need to transfer at Zhongshan Station, while those traveling from Xindian to Songshan will need to transfer at Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Station to reach their destination. As for the Tamsui Line, it will in the future operate on the “Tamsui–Xiangshan” route.

The Songshan Line is 8.5 kilometers long. Starting from Songshan Station, it includes eight stations: Nanjing Sanmin Station, Taipei Arena Station, Nanjing Fuxing Station, Songjiang Nanjing Station, Zhongshan Station, Beimen Station, and Ximen Station. The total travel time along the entire line is about 15 minutes. Songshan Station will also become the third three-rail integrated transportation hub following Taipei Main Station and Banqiao Station.
