China Airlines' First B777-300ER Creates an "Aircraft Terminal Eslite" – First Look Inside

China Airlines’ first Boeing 777-300ER aircraft was delivered in Seattle on October 3 local time in the U.S., and arrived at Taoyuan Airport at 9 p.m. on October 4. Unlike conventional aircraft cabin designs, this new plane incorporates elements of humanities, Taiwanese cultural creativity, and Eastern aesthetics, aiming to make passengers feel as if they’ve stepped into an "airborne Eslite Bookstore."

The design of China Airlines’ new aircraft was overseen by architect Chen Rui-hsien, who also designed the Eslite Bookstore. The overall cabin design centers around Eastern aesthetics, reinterpreted from a Taiwanese perspective. The cabin features an original persimmon wood grain design, along with ambient lighting tailored to passengers’ routines, creating a uniquely immersive spatial experience.

One of the most stunning features is the exclusive Sky Lounge in the premium business class, which uniquely blends Eastern and Western cultures. In the high-ceilinged space, the left side is a "Cultural Creative Tea Area" offering carefully selected Taiwanese teas, including six different tea experiences such as charcoal-infused Dongding Oolong, fragrant Alishan Oolong, and fragrant Shanlinxi Tea. On the right, the "Trendy Coffee Area" serves Western-style aromatic capsule coffee and locally grown Dongshan Coffee from Taiwan, paired with classic Western pastries. The central bar area offers cocktails, light snacks, energizing seafood dishes, and richly spiced matsutake-flavored instant noodle cups, providing passengers with a comfortable lounge-like resting space.

% Inspired by the Sky Lounge concept, passengers can enjoy not only Eastern tea aromas but also the richness of Western coffee, experiencing both Eastern and Western cultures simultaneously.

The China Airlines Boeing 777-300ER has a total of 358 seats, including 40 premium business class seats, 62 premium economy seats, and 256 economy seats. The premium business class features first-class-level, full-flat seats that are 78 inches (198 cm) long, along with the Panasonic eX3 in-flight entertainment system. Once in service, the aircraft will also offer paid in-flight Wi-Fi services at $11.95 for 1 hour, $16.95 for 3 hours, and $21.95 for 24 hours.

The aircraft will begin service on the Taipei–Los Angeles route in December. After the delivery of the second and third Boeing 777-300ERs in October and November, it will be deployed on the New York and San Francisco routes in 2015.
