You can play tennis while shopping: Singapore’s Orchard Road to launch “Pedestrians’ Night” starting October

Orchard Road, widely regarded by many travelers as the “best place to shop” in Singapore, will launch a six-month limited-time“Pedestrians’ Paradise Night”from October, allowing visitors to enjoy shopping in the most comfortable environment.

Orchard Road is home to a large number of department stores and various malls, with many well-known hotels such as Mandarin Oriental and boutique lodgings also concentrated here, making it a must-visit destination for those who want to shop to their heart’s content when traveling to Singapore. According to the planning of the Orchard Road Business Association, starting from October, the first Saturday of each month from 6 pm to 11 pm will see a roughly 660-meter stretch of road between Scotts Road and Bideford Road closed to vehicles, allowing visitors to freely stroll from one shopping mall to another.

At the same time, each month’s Pedestrians’ Night will feature different themes for public participation. For example, in October, a mini tennis court will be set up here, where besides shopping, visitors can also enjoy the fun of playing tennis, while November and December will feature yoga and Christmas themes. The “Pedestrians’ Paradise Night” will run from October through March 2015.
