Located in Kamakura, Enoshima has become a popular pilgrimage spot for many Taiwanese travelers in recent years thanks to the “Slam Dunk level crossing.” Aside from recreating the iconic wave scene between Sakuragi Hanamichi and Haruko, there’s also a must-try senbei on Enoshima’s main street – made with whole octopus and lobster, and it’s bigger than your face.

You can find these senbei shops all over Enoshima. This is the local specialty “Octopus Tako-yaki Senbei.” The method involves placing a whole fresh, three-dimensional small octopus or lobster onto a high-pressure machine, brushing flour slurry underneath first, then pressing it with two large iron plates under high temperature and pressure for 20 to 30 seconds. After trimming, you get a whole piece of octopus tako-yaki senbei or lobster tako-yaki senbei that’s bigger than your face.
In terms of price, the lobster one is 600 yen, and the octopus is 350 yen. The middle lobster tako-yaki part can be a bit hard and salty, so it’s good to have it with a drink.
