Kaohsiung’s Colorful Container Extravaganza “Jihe Box” – Great Food, Fun, and Photo Ops!

Yes, today I’m introducing a new hipster hotspot. If you’re a fan of the trendy scene, you absolutely must come here to snap some photos, sip on drinks, and catch a LIVE show – that’s what being a true hipster is all about. And when you’re done, make sure to grab a meatball at the IKEA next door – then your weekend getaway will truly be the ultimate hipster experience, lol XD

Actually, EVAN ended up in Kaohsiung for work, and originally planned to just stroll around IKEA (playing at being a hipster), but then I stumbled upon this adorable spot. I had no choice but to take some photos and share them!

This place is called Jihe．Kubic, made up of lots of colorful containers, with a variety of little shops inside each one. There’s food, drinks, and all sorts of artsy items to browse and buy. There’s also live performances, and every shop has its own unique vibe. I’ll introduce them all to you through the photos below.

A Simple Photo Introduction

Turns out this area is the restroom – super cute!

The orange container is empty – great for photos with IKEA in the background. This spot gets lots of exposure~ Love it~

As you go further in, you’ll start to see some unique shops. It really feels like anything placed in these adorable containers instantly gains a stylish touch.

Each wall has this logo – look closely and you’ll realize it’s a fly XDD (at first I thought it was the smiling sheep...)

This unique shop even has chairs made from bathtubs outside.

Further in, there’s also a shop selling soy milk – probably one of the more affordable spots here XD

Keep going in a bit and you’ll find a shop selling cocktails and fresh juice. Their fresh juice has multi-layered colors, kind of similar to Sabah’s five-color ice (just a little bit, lol) – this one’s orange, with a warm color that gives off a cozy, heartwarming vibe after drinking XDD

There’s also a large square on the first floor with plenty of chairs to sit and relax on, and you can enjoy LIVE music (this time it was a skinny guy named “Fei,” who sang pretty well. There’s also a photo op with a fallen dog and a big fly).

If you’re not into cocktails, you can also try some Takao Beer here~~~ perfect for cooling down~ Kaohsiung is seriously too hot.

Later I found a really interesting shop – it’s run by Ip Man~~ where you can learn martial arts, and if you’re thirsty, there’s authentic Hong Kong-style dessert drinks XDD The menu is written in small seal script, and you can only understand it after the boss performs a spell on it – (pretty quirky~~) I think they should open more unique shops in these container spaces.

There’s also a bicycle shop – I didn’t go in, just took a photo of the cool exterior display.

There’s also a goose-yellow container mainly selling pasta – the exterior is pretty cute~ I don’t know about the food though, haven’t tried it~ if you have, let me know how it tastes!

After checking out the first floor, let’s head up to the second floor to see what other unique shops there are Up～ The second floor mainly features exhibitions and also sells Korean cuisine.

W stands at the entrance of the Korean food place with this face – not bringing him in to eat makes me feel kinda mean.

There’s also a dried flower shop – I quite like it. The dried flowers are all styled, and I especially love their Moai planters. I really want to buy one to take home.

After checking out these adorable colorful containers, finish off with IKEA’s pork ball soup for the perfect ending~ then you can say – today was truly a hipster adventure!

Alright~ I think this place is perfect for families, couples, or best friends to hang out. It’s laid-back, not expensive at all. Come here to take photos, listen to music, and browse unique shops – it’s really great!
