A red vintage sign hangs on the street in the Dongcheng area. Located near Taipei Metro’s Zhongxiao Dunhua Station, the Governor Western Restaurant has been around for about 40 years. Regulars come here especially for the steaks — tender and juicy filet mignon, richly aromatic ribeye, luxurious scallop seafood platters, and springy French-style lamb chops, made with premium New Zealand lamb known for its thick and juicy cuts.

Aside from the main courses, the Governor Western Restaurant also offers a table-side buffet bar. What netizens highly recommend is the rich taro puree, with its smooth texture complemented by the aroma of fresh cream — a dish with an exceptionally high return rate. As for desserts, they are freshly made daily, ranging from garlic bread served before the meal to handmade cakes, puddings, and sago desserts at the buffet bar.
