As major airlines phase out their 747 fleets, EVA Air, which previously announced it would retire all 747s in August, today (the 4th) posted on its fan page that the final 747 flight will be operated on August 21 on BR892 from Hong Kong to Taipei, marking the end of its 25-year service life. At that time, China Airlines will become the only national airline still operating the 747 fleet.

EVA Air began using the Boeing 747-400 passenger aircraft 25 years ago and currently has three 747 passenger planes and six 747 cargo planes. In April this year, reports emerged that EVA Air would retire its entire 747 fleet in August. Today, the airline officially announced that the last 747 flight will be BR892 from Hong Kong back to Taipei. The flight departs at 9:50 a.m. and is expected to arrive at Taoyuan International Airport at 11:30 a.m. EVA Air stated that it is still considering whether to organize a farewell event for the last 747 flight and welcomes aviation enthusiasts to set aside time to see the aircraft off.
