Father’s Day, compared to the fanfare of Mother’s Day, is a low-key holiday. Like fathers at home, he prefers sitting in the same spot in the living room, reading the same newspapers, using the same teacup, quietly living his life like a big tree with an unbothered routine. His favorite flavors are also always nostalgic, just like the Taiwanese version of the Black Forest cake—simple whipped cream layered with chocolate shavings, dotted with bright red cherries, not flashy, as substantial and reliable as a lover from a past life.
I still remember being young and carefree, obsessed with conquering “all-you-can-eat cakes” in various places. Among them, the most unforgettable for me was the irresistible and refreshing whipped cream from Tianmu’s “Red Leaf Cake.” Time has passed, and the girl I once was no longer has the capacity for all-you-can-eat, but returning to the same place, the signboard has been changed to “MapleGrid.” However, the star item remains. Taking a bite, the cake is even more moist and soft. It turns out the owner and his wife, who made the cakes, left the shelter of the big brand and decided to compete in the market again under their own brand.
