The Guohua-Youai Business District in Tainan spans from Ximen Road in the east to Hai’an Road in the west, and from Zhongzheng Road in the north to Zunwang Road in the south. Adjacent to the Zhongzheng Ginza Business District, it has developed into a key tourist and commercial destination in recent years. Due to the large number of visitors during holidays, the city government has designated Guohua Street (between Zhongzheng Road and Zunwang Road)as a weekend pedestrian-only zone, aiming to provide a safe and comfortable environment for both locals and tourists.

The Guohua-Youai Business District is an important historic commercial area in Tainan, home to numerous traditional shops dealing in ready-to-wear garments, fashion wholesale, and jewelry. In recent years, it has evolved by integrating modern fashion trends, unique street scenes, and historical heritage, becoming a top destination for young people to experience cultural creativity, shop, and enjoy local cuisine. Highlights include “FoDu Aiyu” at the intersection of Guohua Street and Youai Street, the 40-year locally operated “Yuanlin Rice Balls” and “Ah Tang Ge Handmade Sesame Cakes” within the pedestrian zone, as well as diverse dining options that offer rich flavors. In addition, there are must-visit nostalgic spots such as the “Eight Treasures Snacks” and grilled skewers, all of which have become beloved landmarks in the area.
The Tainan City Government Tourism Bureau states that the Guohua-Youai Business District represents a significant symbol of Tainan’s old and new city fusion and the transition of prosperity. Today, the district is not only a hub for cultural creativity, fashion, and gourmet food but also an ideal place to explore the memories of Tainan’s historic city. The tourism bureau has gathered information on important historical sites, cultural and creative businesses, and local snacks around the area and designed five walking routes through the Old Port City. Visitors are welcome to explore the slow-paced cultural charm of Tainan on foot.

Route: Guohua Street in Central and Western District, Tainan City (between Zhongzheng Road and Zunwang Road). Motor vehicles are prohibited from entering this section during the implementation period.
Time: From August 2 to October 26, 2014 (103 year in Taiwan calendar), every Saturday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
