The Japanese “Shirakawa-go Gassho Village,” beloved by Taiwanese travelers, is famous for its winter night illuminations, which are the most anticipated event of the season. The 2018 illumination schedule has now been released, but compared to this year, there will only be 4 days in 2018 to witness this magical spectacle. Travelers hoping to catch the view should seize the opportunity.

Located in Gifu Prefecture, Japan, the “Shirakawa-go Gassho Village” is surrounded by lush green mountains. When winter arrives, the gassho-style houses resembling gingerbread homes are blanketed in snow, and when coupled with nighttime illuminations, the entire village becomes a dreamy wonderland, resembling a scene from a fairy tale that captivates many visitors.

The highly anticipated “2018 Shirakawa-go Gassho Village Winter Illumination” schedule has recently been announced, scheduled for the evenings of January 21 and 28, and February 4 and 12 from 17:30 to 19:30. For safety reasons, the observation deck that offers a panoramic view of the village will limit the number of entrants. Each illumination event is capped at 900 people, and numbered tickets (ticket slips) will be issued. Each ticket is 500 yen, and priority will be given to guests staying within Shirakawa Village.
