When it comes to breathtaking sunrises and rolling seas of clouds, many people’s minds will immediately turn to Golden Dragon Mountain—one of Taiwan’s three top photography destinations. The 820-meter-high sunrise viewing platform is a romantic wonderland for watching the first light of dawn and a gathering spot for photography enthusiasts. To allow visitors to more easily enjoy this natural gift and the forest’s phytoncides, the authorities are planning to develop forest trails, which are expected to be completed by the end of this year or early next year.

Among Taiwan’s three classic low-altitude sunrise photography spots—“North: Getou, Central: Wucheng, South: Erliau”—the sunrise viewing platform on Golden Dragon Mountain in Wucheng may be at a lower elevation, but its stunning sunrise, sea of clouds, and ethereal light views are no less spectacular. To make it easier for visitors to enjoy the scenery, the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration has planned the “Golden Dragon Mountain Forest Trail and Public Toilet Construction Project,” which will include the development of three forest trails and a cherry blossom path at the Dawn Square. The public can look forward to a brand-new Golden Dragon Mountain experience.
