Xu Chuansheng, Director of the Kaohsiung City Tourism Bureau, stated that in the internet era, most travel information is obtained online. The bureau previously held the “Summer in Kaohsiung Madness – Lazy Itinerary Contest,” which received enthusiastic submissions from all over Taiwan. Many travel enthusiasts shared unique itineraries that were truly impressive. This time, the “Warm Winter Tour in Kaohsiung” Super Guide Influencer Competition focuses on Kaohsiung’s mild and pleasant winter climate, making it an ideal destination for both domestic and international visitors seeking to escape the cold. Kaohsiung’s winter events are vibrant and diverse, featuring not only New Year’s celebrations and the Lantern Festival & Arts Festival but also recent efforts to connect various rural and fishing port communities for tourism. Highlights include purple crow butterfly watching, flower seas, hands-on farming experiences, and fishing village tours—classic recreational activities infused with local character that offer new lifestyle travel options.

Kaohsiung’s tourist attractions include the world-famous overwintering of purple crow butterflies. From October this year to March next year, the Maolin Purple Butterfly Valley is a great spot for eco-tourism. From November to December, the Meinong White Radish Season welcomes families to join in the harvest in the fields. Around the Lunar New Year, Qishan, Shanlin, Meinong, and Liouguei are adorned with stunning flower seas.
