Travelers Vote on the “Hardest Airport to Sleep In” – Pakistan’s Benazir Bhutto International Airport Wins “Double Crown”

The American travel website “Sleeping in Airports Guide” recently releasedthe world’s most sleep-friendly airportsranking, and also published a list of the world’s “hardest to sleep in” airports. The airport with the worst reputation among global travelers is Pakistan’s Islamabad Benazir Bhutto International Airport (hereinafter referred to as Bhutto International Airport), which also ranks first as the hardest airport to sleep in in Asia.

The ranking of the most sleep-friendly airports has always been based on the 4Cs (comfort, cleanliness, convenience, and customer service), determined by votes from travelers around the world for their favorite international airports — and, of course, the worst ones too.

Bhutto International Airport, which won the “double crown” on both the global and Asian lists, was rated the worst by travelers for reasons including completely inadequate airport staff unable to handle passengers’ problems or needs, and an airport terminal that feels like a central prison, with numerous taxi drivers and hawkers openly pestering travelers inside the airport, making it nearly impossible to get any sleep. Fortunately, Pakistan plans to complete a new airport by mid-2016 to replace it, and many travelers are hoping it will improve these poor conditions in the future.
