Carrying dreams and courage—revisit travel memories with Tainan-style brunch

It’s been a while since I posted about food in Tainan~~~ But with my food-loving nature, I couldn’t hold out for long, lol XDD Today, I want to share with you all a newly opened brunch spot. I found out about this place online a few days ago and was drawn in by its fun name, so I made sure to clear my schedule for its opening day to check it out.

Like many other great spots in Tainan, this place is tucked away in a quiet alley—not in a bustling area—but if you search the map beforehand, the location isn’t too hard to find, though parking nearby can be a bit tricky.

The café is run by a travel-loving twentysomething. The owner is extremely passionate about traveling, and backpacking and work-exchange stays have been as routine in his life as eating. But over time, with parental concerns and the push-and-pull between dreams and reality, he eventually found a temporary balance—this place, Seikaku (性格).

Because the name is so unique, I specifically asked the owner if there was a special reason behind it. He said the name was chosen by his father. Originally, the owner had his own preferred name, but his father suggested this one, and he decided to go with it. The crocodile in the logo symbolizes courage, serving as a reminder to never lose bravery or let time and reality dull the passion from the beginning. A way to remember the original intention.

As soon as we walked in, the staff warmly greeted us and handed us the menu. The small menu carries Seikaku’s unique style.

Two large backpacks on the wall immediately catch your eye. Don’t assume they’re just decorations—they’re actually ones the owner and his girlfriend have really used!!! Why hang them on the wall? To constantly remind themselves of their original dreams, and as a daily source of motivation. Boge guesses that if you ever come to Seikaku and those two big backpacks are gone, it probably means the owner and his girlfriend have gone traveling again~~~

The space inside isn’t large—the whole shop is divided into front and back areas, but there aren’t many seats. The second floor will be opened as a dining area once it’s tidied up.

The back area also has a great vibe—you can feel the owner’s love for travel in every little detail.

There are also many photos the owner took during his past travels posted on the walls. Looking at each photo, you can sense the wonderful moments of those trips.

The decor of a shop often reflects the philosophy and style of its owner. At Seikaku, aside from travel-related decorations, you’ll also find many books about travel and dreams.

Today, I ordered a brunch set from Seikaku—the French Crispy Sausage Cheese ($150), with a 10% discount in the first week of opening. The drink that comes with it is honey lemon, but you can pay extra to switch to another beverage. The main sandwich is made in a lighter, Japanese-style way—the bread is tightly pressed together by heat, which also helps warm up the meal. There’s plenty of cheese inside, paired with crispy sausage, corn, apple, and vegetables—it’s very filling.

In addition to the sandwich, there’s also a side salad, mashed potatoes, and some seasonal fruits. The owner said if you don’t like salad, you can let them know in advance and they’ll customize the ratio of salad and fruit for you ^__^ For a brunch set like this, the price is quite reasonable, the food is delicious, and most importantly, the staff service is super friendly~~~~>< ((很注重这个XDD　开幕第一天就有许多客人光顾，看到别桌客人点了法兰斯熏肠培根，感觉好好吃喔~~~下次再去试试。最后附上菜单给大家参考Up~~~:)
