“Golden Rice Fields as the Stage” – Diva A-Mei to Perform on Brown Highway in November

The “Chiayi Autumn Harvest Rice Festival,” organized by the Taiwan Good Foundation and Chihshang Township in Taitung, has previously featured pianist Chen Guanyu, U-Theatre, Cloud Gate Dance Theatre, and more. This year on November 1st and 2nd, the organizers will invite diva A-Mei to perform in the golden rice fields of Brown Highway.

“The fields of Taitung, the mountains of Taitung, the waterfalls of clouds in Taitung, the skies of Taitung: I’m back, and I want to sing beautiful songs for you.” A-Mei once said. Organizer Lai Yi-jun noted that this year’s theme, “A-Mei: A Song of the Land,” was chosen largely because A-Mei herself is from Taitung. She told the organizers that she is deeply moved by the performances at the “Chiayi Autumn Harvest Rice Festival” every year and took the initiative to ask if she could perform with the rice fields as her stage. The organizers agreed, believing that having the iconic diva perform would be a perfect fit for the festival, which has always centered around music, dance, and art.

On the day of the concert, traffic control will also be implemented on Brown Highway. In addition to managing access at surrounding entrances, the organizers urge attendees who plan to drive to park at the “Chihshang Hakka Cultural Park” parking lot, where shuttle buses will be available to take them to the performance venue.
