Taichung’s popular Shengqiao Gua Bao to pop up in Taipei for 4 days in October, featuring 4 new flavors

Taichung’s popular Shengqiao Gua Bao is making a pop-up appearance in Taipei from October 7 to October 10 at “Reunion Dadaocheng” on Dihua Street. This limited-time event will showcase four unique gua bao flavors that blend the local essence of both Taichung and Dadaocheng while paying tribute to traditional shops. The flavors include Taichung Stir-Fried Noodles Gua Bao, OREO Ice Cream Gua Bao, Sakura Shrimp Cheese Fries Gua Bao, and Red Bean Ice Cream Gua Bao.

The Taichung Stir-Fried Noodles Gua Bao features Dongquan Chili Sauce from Taichung, an essential spicy condiment for stir-fried noodles in central Taiwan. The OREO Ice Cream Gua Bao incorporates Dajia’s famous Jinritian Sesame Twist. Meanwhile, the Sakura Shrimp Cheese Fries Gua Bao includes Dadaocheng’s Jiangji Hualong Meat Jerky, and the Red Bean Ice Cream Gua Bao highlights purple rice candy from Dadaocheng’s Litingxiang Cake Shop.

With a retro Japanese vibe, “Shengqiao Gua Bao” is located near Zhongshan Green Bridge in Taichung. The tiny shop has no seating, so customers enjoy their meals standing. Behind the curtain at the entrance, however, you’ll find nostalgic vintage decorations that attract many passersby. To order a special gua bao, customers first need to operate the gua bao ticket machine in front of the store—insert coins and press the button to get your meal ticket.
