Autumn Exclusive: The Golden Secret "Beech" Trail in Taipingshan, Yilan

In Taiwan, autumn offers more than just maple leaf viewing—another great option is to admire the dazzling golden "beech." As deep autumn sets in, the beech leaves turn a brilliant gold, covering the hillsides in a breathtaking, expansive sight.
The Taiwanese beech trail is located in Taipingshan National Forest Park, Yilan County, spanning approximately 3.85 kilometers in total, with a round trip taking about three hours. The park is home to around 1,100 hectares of pristine beech forest. Beech trees are glacial relict plants, typically found at elevations between 1,600 and 1,800 meters.
The golden foliage of the beech trees is visible for only a short period. This year, the beech leaf display is expected to last only until early November. The Luodong Forest District Office reports that the beech trail currently attracts around 2,000 visitors daily and advises tourists to view the leaves before noon when visibility is best.
