By day, watch the high-speed rail trains speed past; at night, admire a million-dollar night view that rivals Hakodate’s. Located in She Tou, Changhua, the “Galaxy Railway Restaurant” has a minimum spend of NT$150, fulfilling the multiple desires of train enthusiasts, sightseers, and diners alike.

Perched on the mountainside of Bagua Mountain in Changhua, the “Galaxy Railway” covers an area of over 3,000 square meters and is a long-established scenic restaurant with 13 years of history. Right in front is the Changhua High-Speed Rail Station, and its five outdoor seating areas are all located beside the high-speed rail tracks. Occasionally, high-speed rail trains speed past serene hillsides, as if gliding through the Milky Way. The shop says the most classic sight is the moment when the setting sun intersects with the passing high-speed rail — a scene that attracts many tourists hoping to capture this rare moment.

Thanks to its unique location, the restaurant offers a 180-degree panoramic view of the Chianan Plain between Taichung and Chiayi, the Zhuoshui River, the Taiwan Strait, and the Taichung Harbor. Standing on the glass circular observation deck, from sunset to starry skies, the city lights twinkle like stars — said to rival the night view of Hakodate in Hokkaido. With less light pollution, there's also a higher chance of seeing meteors streaking across the sky, making the scenery incredibly mesmerizing.

In addition to the enchanting night views that are essential for a scenic restaurant, the food is also a crucial element. Options include hot pot, rice and noodles, vegetarian dishes, snacks, and beverages — all made fresh upon order. The shop says their signature Whole Herbal Chicken Hot Pot uses free-range black-bone chicken, which is rarely seen on the market. The meat is tender, flavorful, and free from the bitterness of traditional Chinese medicine. Their signature grilled chicken leg with secret sauce is also a bestseller, and netizens recommend the hot pot dishes.
