Flight attendants can only wear jeans and polo shirts to class  Tigerair Taiwan kicks off its second wave of flight attendant training

Tigerair Taiwan has currently launched routes to Singapore, and will open two new routes to Bangkok and Chiang Mai in Thailand in mid-November. It will continue to expand its route network going forward, and plans to grow its fleet to 12 aircraft within three years as scheduled. In April this year (2014), Tigerair Taiwan recruited flight attendants for the first time, and the second wave of flight attendants officially began their training courses today.

A total of 25 new flight attendants, dubbed “Tiger Cubs,” officially began their training today. On the first day of training on November 3, Tigerair Taiwan required all attendees to “only” wear jeans and polo shirts, hoping to instill in the trainees an energetic, passionate, and warm service attitude, and to build a unique, lively airline corporate culture from head to toe.

Tigerair Taiwan adopts an elite recruitment system. Aside from language proficiency and educational background, the recruitment criteria place special emphasis on personal traits such as enthusiasm and vitality. For instance, one of the new recruits, Sun Li-fang, who has dark skin and a striking appearance, is a sporty beauty with a deep-sea diving license. She laughed and said she hopes to be able to “fly through the skies and dive into the depths, climb mountains and cross seas.” Because she is naturally active and lively, she chose to apply to Tigerair Taiwan, which was newly established in Taiwan.

The 25 newly enlisted flight attendants will undergo a rigorous one-and-a-half-month training course, covering areas such as flight safety, flight operations, and customer service. Notably, those who do not meet the standards upon completion will be required to repeat the training. Tigerair Taiwan aims to overturn the public’s perception of low-cost carriers. While offering relatively affordable ticket prices is a major selling point, the airline also wants to provide every passenger with a complete service experience.
