A fall trip to Daxueshan Forest Recreation Area isn’t just the best time to admire sea of clouds, but also offers the chance to witness the magnificent sunrise between the peaks – well worth waking up early for. Take advantage of the crisp, clear autumn air during sea of clouds season and embark on a romantic autumn journey to Daxueshan, where you can truly experience the sea of clouds drifting among the mountain ridges, undulating and ever-changing. Maple leaf enthusiasts are also welcome to visit, as plants such as Taiwan red maple and green maple in the area will gradually don golden and orange-red hues starting mid-November.

Daxueshan Forest Recreation Area notes that Daxueshan is located in a prevailing cloud and fog belt, and its picturesque sea of clouds resembling ink wash paintings is a major highlight. At the 48K Pass Viewpoint, visitors can take in a variety of breathtaking sights – the rolling mountain ranges, the awe-inspiring sunrise, the majestic sea of clouds, and the splendid sunset – all in one sweeping view. However, the trails extend through high-altitude mountainous areas, winding with many steep slopes, so hikers should avoid walking too hastily.

Located at the 43K Daxueshan Visitor Center, visitors can enjoy the ever-changing sea of clouds and the colorful, stunning sunsets without having to hike, making it suitable for family outings.
