New Site Flower Sea Attracts Record 400,000 Visitors in 2 Days Over Holiday Weekend; Police Advise Visiting on Non-Holidays

The New Site Flower Sea Festival kicked off on the 8th, and the first two holiday days of that week—August 8 and 9—attracted over 400,000 visitors, breaking the record for the highest attendance in the event’s nine-year history. The Dongshi Precinct advised visitors to come on non-holidays or take the free shuttle bus on holidays to avoid traffic jams.

The Dongshi Precinct noted that by 10 a.m. on both holiday days, all parking spaces at the three lots within the venue had been filled. The precinct’s “Command Post and Forward Command Post,” set up at the Duty Command Center and Dongxing Police Station, monitored real-time traffic flow, crowd conditions, and updates from officers on the ground, and promptly dispatched police for flexible traffic control and guidance.

The Dongshi Precinct stated that although there were occasional short-term traffic congestions on Freeway No. 4 and Dongshan Road in Beitun District heading toward New Site during the two holiday days, traffic control and crowd management ensured relatively smooth access to the flower sea.

 The Dongshi Precinct set up a “Police Service Station” within the flower sea venue, handling 144 public service cases over the two holiday days. Police reported that at around 1 p.m. on the 8th, an elementary school student surnamed Wu fell and injured himself by the roadside near the parking lot, suffering from persistent nosebleeds. Officers transported him to the on-site medical station, where he was treated and fortunately did not sustain serious injuries. (News source: Central News Agency)
