Taiwan’s Largest Corn Maze Opens in Chiayi – a 12-Hectare Challenge!

Chiayi now has Taiwan’s largest “corn maze” waiting for you to take on the challenge. Yi-Zhu Township in Chiayi County, known for its hard corn production and pigeon racing, has used a 12-hectare cornfield to create a massive maze. The Yi-Zhu Township Farmers’ Association has also set up various obstacles within the maze, inviting the public to come and test their skills.

The Yi-Zhu Township Farmers’ Association explained that the idea of creating a “corn maze” using a 10-hectare cornfield originally came from a desire to promote locally grown, non-GMO hard corn. It was first launched in 2012 to great acclaim, and this year it’s back with an expanded area of 12 hectares. The expansive cornfield features a design in the shape of “a pigeon spreading its wings,” which can be fully viewed from the observation tower located in the center of the maze.

The “corn maze” will open this Saturday (the 15th) and run until February 23 of next year. In the future, it will only be open to the public on weekends. The Yi-Zhu Township Farmers’ Association stated that visitors who come to tackle the maze on the opening day (the 15th) can receive a limited-edition small gift simply by checking in at the entrance, while supplies last. Currently, because the corn hasn’t grown very tall yet, it’s still possible to see the paths ahead clearly. However, once the corn grows taller than the average person’s height, the difficulty level will no doubt rise significantly!
