Taiwan’s Largest Buffet Begins Soft Opening with “Buy 5, Get 1 Free” Promotion

Taiwan’s largest buffet restaurant, “Pin Hua Yuan,” started its soft opening on November 1. The venue features 24 open kitchens, with 90% of dishes prepared to order. Weekday dinners are priced at NT$880, and weekday lunches at NT$1080. Wait, did you read that right? Weekday lunches are actually more expensive than dinners—mainly because each diner gets a complimentary 400g lobster valued at NT$1300. No wonder there are still lines even at lunchtime on weekdays.

Spanning 1,200 ping, Pin Hua Yuan has 30 chefs specializing in various cuisines, including Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Indian, and Italian, across 24 cooking zones. Aside from its spacious dining area, one of the highlights in the open kitchens is the whole roasted pig—a massive pig weighing over 100 jin slow-roasted over charcoal. It’s not just visually stunning but also delicious in taste and texture.

Another highlight is the all-you-can-eat Mongolian barbecue, which includes pork, beef, lamb, chicken, and even the rare venison. Take as much as you like—if you’ve never tried venison, now’s your chance. The sauce station also features helpful signs indicating how much of each sauce to use.

If one lobster isn’t enough to satisfy your seafood cravings, don’t miss the daily seafood section. In addition to unlimited crabs, mussels, and raw oysters, you can also have live shrimp and clams freshly caught and cooked by the chefs—though live shrimp are limited to three per order.

Aside from having more expensive lunches than dinners, another difference between Pin Hua Yuan and other Western-style buffets is the absence of an afternoon tea session. Tang Yushu, head of public affairs at Yunlun Tourism Group, explained that since Pin Hua Yuan emphasizes freshly prepared dishes and offers a three-hour dining period, allowing guests to dine at their own pace—even past closing time without being rushed—afternoon tea service isn’t feasible.During the soft opening, Pin Hua Yuan is offering a “Buy 5, Get 1 Free” promotion (equivalent to 20% off) for weekday dinners and weekend lunch/dinners. However, this offer cannot be combined with meal vouchers.
