Tokyo Tower's Winter Christmas Light Show — A Magical World of Light with 60,000 Illuminations

The highly anticipated Tokyo Tower "Winter Christmas Light Show," which draws crowds of tourists every year, has returned this year in an even more spectacular and dazzling display to light up the Tokyo night sky. In addition to a giant Christmas tree standing in front of the tower, Tokyo Tower has used 60,000 lights this year to transform both the interior and exterior of the tower into a fantastical world of light. The show runs from now until February 28 of next year.

This year’s Tokyo Tower Winter Christmas Light Show is named "Tokyo Tower Winter Fantasy," and is themed around the classic fairy tale “The Nutcracker.” Colorful lights have been used to create a luminous fairy-tale garden on the plaza in front of the tower. Paired with the timeless music of “The Nutcracker,” a musical light show with the Christmas tree will also be held daily from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., making it one of this year’s must-see highlights.

The experience is equally spectacular at the Main Deck observation deck, located 150 meters above ground. The organizers have covered the entire ceiling of the observation deck with numerous lights. As night falls, the lights blend with the cityscape through the glass, immersing visitors in a magical space. In line with the Nutcracker fairy tale theme, the second floor of the Main Deck also features a special exhibition of 11 Nutcracker dolls, accompanying visitors through a dazzling winter wonderland.
