Taiwan’s Tim Ho Wan Takeaway Store Opens on the 24th, But Only 12 Dim Sum Items Available for Takeout

After the arrival of Hong Kong’s Michelin one-star restaurant “Tim Ho Wan” in Taiwan, those who wanted to try it had to wait in long lines. However, Taiwan Tim Ho Wan announced today (the 20th) that its takeaway store will officially open for business at 2 PM on the 24th. Although the takeaway store is a separate outlet, it is right next to the main branch, so it’s easy to find.

The menu at Taiwan’s Tim Ho Wan takeaway store is based on the current dine-in menu, featuring the restaurant’s signature “Three Heavenly Kings”—crispy BBQ pork buns, pan-fried radish cakes, and smooth Malaysian sponge cake—along with 11 savory dim sum items, 1 sweet item, and drinks such as barley water. A spokesperson explained that while the full dine-in menu includes many options, the decision to offer only 12 takeout items was based mainly on “taste” and “convenience.” For example, items like cheung fun are greatly affected by temperature and thus not suitable for takeout, which is why only three out of the signature “Four Heavenly Kings” are available for takeaway.

On the opening day of Tim Ho Wan’s takeaway storeOu-Yang Nini will serve as the “Lucky Store Manager”and personally take orders for the first 10 groups in line. Queuing opens at 11:00 AM, and number cards will be handed out at 1:45 PM as the basis for grouping. Leaving the queue during this time will result in disqualification from the event. Starting November 25, the takeaway store will be open from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
