Fly Tigerair to Macau for New Year’s Eve countdown! The first batch of budget airfares under NT$1,000 is expected to go on sale in mid-December.

With TransAsia Airways announcing new routes, competition among Taiwan’s domestic low-cost carriers has intensified. Tigerair Taiwan, which already operates flights to Singapore, Bangkok, and Chiang Mai, plans to launch a new route between Taipei and Macau by the end of 2014, and will alsointroduce promotional fares under NT$1,000 for Macau trips.。

According to Tigerair Taiwan, given the distance, ticket prices between Taiwan and Macau have been relatively high in the past. The launch of Tigerair flights is expected to reduce travel costs for passengers. The Taipei–Macau route is currently under review and could begin operations by the end of December, allowing travelers to ring in the New Year 2015 in Macau.

It is understood that, unlike dynamic pricing strategies, Tigerair will directly offer promotional fares under NT$1,000 for the Macau route at its initial launch, with sales expected to start in mid-December.

Additionally, Tigerair insiders revealedthat in response to competition from other domestic low-cost carriers, Tigerair is well-prepared and will soon “make its move” — consumers, stay tuned.
