The winter light festival “Shonan Jewels,” the most popular event on Enoshima known for its Slam Dunk railway and Cat Island, officially lit up on the evening of the 29th. From now until February 1, 2015, visitors can enjoy the dazzling lights glowing in the darkness.

The winter light festival “Shonan Jewels,” launched in 2011 to promote tourism, was an instant hit and in 2012 was ranked alongside Tokyo German Village and Ashikaga Flower Park as one of the “Three Must-See Light Displays in the Kanto Region.” In 2013, it was also selected as a Japanese night view heritage site.

This year’s light display centers around the local observation deck, decorated with over 40,000 crystal lights to create the “Enoshima Ocean Candlelight.” From now on, every day from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., the diamond-like observation deck will become the most beautiful beacon in the night. Additionally, starting in January, the “Tulip Light Zone,” created with 20,000 local tulips and lights, along with the “Valentine’s Island – Enoshima” themed area, which runs from February 7 to 15, will also make their appearances.
