Winter is the perfect time to warm up with a hot spring soak, and it’s also the best time to visit Guguan. The annual highlight of the “Taiwan’s Best Hot Springs – Hot Spring & Gourmet Carnival” — the “Guguan Hot Spring Feast” — will take place on the afternoon of December 6 at Guguan Hot Spring Park. Now in its eighth consecutive year, the event offers visitors who book accommodations in the Guguan Hot Spring area on the day of the event a chance to receive an afternoon tea experience voucher.

The event venue is Guguan Hot Spring Park, which mainly showcases its newly completed barrier-free facilities to the public. To promote tourism highlights in the Guguan area, the “Guguan Style Stamp Rally” has been launched this year, featuring six stamping locations: “Guling Temple, Millennium Five-Leaf Pine, Guguan Visitor Center, Guguan Suspension Bridge, Shaolai Suspension Bridge, and the East-West Cross-Island Highway Archway.” Visitors can also enjoy a foot-soaking pool with hot spring fish SPA exfoliation, or hike up the Shaolai Trail for panoramic views. Other attractions include the millennium-old Five-Leaf Pine sacred tree and Guling Temple.
In addition, a music party will kick off first at 7:00 p.m. on December 5 (Friday) at the square in front of the Guguan Visitor Center. On December 6 (Saturday) at 2:00 p.m., the opening ceremony will feature an indigenous welcoming dance, street performances, the Oh Bear face-changing show, a violin performance by Bo’ai Elementary School students, local specialty sales, glutinous rice pounding activities, DIY workshops, and more. There will also be hot spring vouchers, hot spring inn coupons, and accommodation tickets given away through on-site quiz games. Visitors can learn more about the beauty of Guguan and experience the charm of the Atayal indigenous culture.
