Taipei’s Most Exciting New Year’s Eve City Opens: Welcome 2015 with Rabbit-Bear and Flight Attendants

At the “Lucky Taipei – New Year’s City Opening Press Conference” held today (December 10) by the Taipei City Government, it was announced that this year’s New Year’s Eve celebrations will significantly expand the festive spirit across the city, including connecting the Xinyi Shopping District to create a month-long Taipei Countdown Park.

The Taipei City Government stated that the Songshan Line of the MRT opened in November this year, completing the well-connected MRT network. Therefore, the main theme of this year’s countdown event will integrate the concept of the MRT, using “Lucky Taipei” to connect and create a “Joyful Taipei City” as the main visual design, expressing a friendly transportation system.

To increase public participation in Taipei’s New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Taipei City Government has also built a “New Year’s Amusement Park” centered around the Xinyi Shopping District. The first to debut is the “2015 Countdown Park,” running from December 10 to January 7 next year in the Xinyi Shopping District. From Xinyi Boulevard to Eslite Xinyi and ATT 4 FUN Square, giant LEGO Christmas trees and large-scale whimsical installations featuring LINE characters have been set up. Online illustrators Cherng’s (Malayan Tapir) and Wei Wei have also jointly designed the “Countdown New Year’s City Map,” creatively presenting the new look of Taipei’s New Year’s Eve while incorporating various discount coupons from the Xinyi Shopping District, allowing the public to enjoy both fun and savings.

In addition, the Taipei City Government has collaborated with “Weekend Madness” to host a two-day “Countdown Creative Playground” cultural and creative market at the Fountain Plaza of the National Father Memorial Hall on December 27 and 28. There will also be a Taipei New Year’s Eve wish hot air balloon on site. Furthermore, China Airlines flight attendants have been specially invited this year to serve as international ambassadors for the 2015 Taipei New Year’s Eve celebrations, welcoming 2015 together with the public.
